Someone committed suicide this morning by jumping from a Hollywood (101) Freeway overpass in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The fatality took place in the area of Broadway and the 101, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada.
A watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Station said someone had jumped and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No information about the person was immediately released.
A SigAlert was issued by the CHP shortly after 12:30 a.m. after all northbound lanes of the freeway were shut down, along with the northbound freeway’s Broadway onramp.
One lane was re-opened within a couple of hours.
Then, all the remaining lanes and the onramp were reopened shortly before 4 a.m., according to the CHP.
